The NCLEX Detailed Test Plan:
Is a summary of what you the Nursing student can expect to be tested on when you sit for the NCLEX Exam. The NCLEX exam is taken by Nursing students in the U.S. Australia, and Canada. It is directly from the NCSBN (National Council of State Boards of Nursing) to provide nursing students with an outline of what is needed within the RN’s and LVN/LPN’s scope of practice. There are eight sections/categories of nursing based around the “Clients’ Needs” and each one is weighted based on a Computerized Adaptive Testing process.. The eight sections of the NCLEX contain questions that are written based on the application upper thinking levels. And they are weighted ranging from as low as 6% to approximately 24%. The purpose of the NCLEX Examination is to protect the public from unqualified and unsafe practices. The NCLEX is Universal so regardless if you are in a nursing program in South Dakota or South Carolina every nursing student takes the same NCLEX Exam.
